AETI Agenda

The American Export Training Institute (AETI), a division of Export Risk Management, Inc., has been America's foremost resource for learning international trade since 1995. Our workshop-style seminars have been attended by thousands of executives, are endorsed by major banks and government agencies, and are held in convenient locations across the country.

We also offer consulting and custom, on-site training. Clients range from major multi-nationals to entrepreneurs. AETI has conducted training across the US and around the world.

Our goal is to help exporters, and importers, gain a clear and thorough understanding of how to:

bullet Take full advantage of financial tools such as letters of credit, and government resources
bullet Offer competitive credit terms, and yet still receive payment upon shipment!
bullet Learn our exclusive 20 crucial  Do's and Don'ts of Letters of Credit
bullet Make your banker work for you
bullet Identify creditworthy prospects and structure successful sales contracts

"I would say this class is a must for any company that exports goods to other countries. It could significantly improve the value of your business and the way you do business."

--- Manager/ Finance, major telecommunications company

In this economy, you need to keep one eye on opportunities, and the other on potential problems. Success depends on managing a sound sales strategy, mitigating risks, and securing cost-effective financing. The American Export Training Institute offers training seminars and consulting to help you reach these goals.

Who Should Attend an AETI Seminar?

Anyone responsible for export decisions--executive management, sales and marketing executives, credit managers, accountants, and finance officers--will benefit significantly from the vital tools, techniques, and concepts presented in an AETI seminar.

Attendees are eligible for up to 16 CPE credits.

"This was probably the best seminar I have attended in 30 years. I will recommend it for our senior marketing people."

-- Senior VP/Finance, major chemical manufacturer

What Does AETI Cover?

AETI seminars cover international payment terms, sales and marketing issues, logistics in coordination with finance, financing methods, credit evaluation, and risk mitigation, all from the perspective of a practitioner. Our staff are experienced hands-on professionals, not academics or salespeople.

For the novice, attending an AETI seminar will open up a world of trade techniques, tools, and decision criteria.

An experienced exporter or banker will learn new tricks, and new ways to take advantage of traditional ways of doing business.

How are AETI Seminars Conducted?

Each AETI seminar is limited to 25 participants to ensure effective instruction in a lively, interactive workshop format. Case studies and extensive discussion help attendees thoroughly understand each concept. Participants are welcome to bring specific examples to review.

Seminars are held across the country, or on-site anywhere in the world for companies desiring a customized presentation to address specific issues.

Who Conducts AETI Seminars?

AETI's Director of Training is Richard "Chip" Thomas, a veteran international banker who has been teaching export finance full-time since 1995. Chip is the co-author of "The Trade Finance Handbook" published in 2007 by Thomson Publishing.

Why AETI?

AETI is not a bank or financial institution with a product to sell. Our goal is to provide unbiased information to participants so they become more knowledgeable users of trade finance products.

AETI seminar content and materials are kept relevant and up-to-the minute through our affiliation with one of America's most active and respected trade insurance specialists, Export Risk Management, Inc., and Interlink Risk Management, a joint venture with Interlink Capital Strategies, a Washington, DC based consultant and finance arranger.
